JUNEAU
9. Get up close to Mendenhall Glacier
If you were hoping to spend more time with glaciers, you’ll be in luck when you reach Juneau. Alaska’s capital city boasts the impressive Mendenhall Glacier within its confines. You can walk the platforms and trails around the visitor center to get a closer glimpse of the glacier and nearby waterfalls.

10. See the “flower towers” of the Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure
The “flower towers” in Glacier Gardens are a unique visual spectacle and your visit will also include a fun ride through the Tongass Forest up to a lovely panoramic vista of Juneau.

11. Feast on everything crab at Tracy’s King Crab Shack
As much as I enjoyed the visits to Mendenhall Glacier and Glacier Gardens, the highlight of my time in Juneau was definitely lunch at Tracy’s King Crab Shack. It’s a crab wonderland, and though they claim to have the “best legs in town,” you will also not go wrong if you order the famous king crab bisque, the mini crab cakes and the crab cake roll.
